I think I have a recalled units – what should I do?
Because the Whirlpool manufactured washer and gas dryer poses a risk of fire, consumers with the affected units should:

• Immediately stop using the unit
• Unplug the unit
• Inform all users of the unit not to use it due to the risk of fire
• Do not disconnect the gas supply

Have there been any injuries or property damage related to this recall?
To date there have been no injuries and no property damage reported relating to this recall.

What is the repair?
The repair is very quick. The service technician will open the unit and install a clip to hold wires in place.

We have had two claims of overheating, but no fires.

What are the immediate dangers?
The gas dryer can overheat, posing a fire hazard. Whirlpool® has received two reports of the unit overheating. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

What precautions should the consumer take?
• Immediately stop using the unit
• Unplug the unit
• Inform all users of the unit not to use it due to the risk of fire
• Do not disconnect the gas supply

How soon can we expect repairs?
The service parts necessary for repairs are available and deployed throughout Whirlpool’s distribution network. The scheduling of repair and service for customers, will depend on where units are located and availability of a service provider. We do not expect a long wait for consumers and the repair should take less than one hour.

What is wrong with the unit?
There is a potential for wires to become loose and come in contact with the heater box, which can cause overheating and poses a fire hazard. The repair is very quick. The service technician will open the unit and install a clip to hold the wires in place.

I am not experiencing any problems with my dryer why can’t I use my washer/dryer unit?
Although you do not see a problem now, we know there is a potential risk of overheating. Your safety is our priority and therefore:
• Immediately stop using the unit
• Unplug the unit
• Inform all users of the unit not to use it due to the risk of fire
• Do not disconnect the gas supply

Since there is no problem with the washer can’t I use it alone?
No, the washer and dryer are both powered by the same electrical source,
there is a risk of fire. The unit is powered by only one power source.
