Guangdong Kelon Air-Conditioner Co., Ltd. Recalls Dehumidifier Due to Fire Hazard

Manufacturer: Guangdong Kelon Air-Conditioner Co., Ltd.
Hazard: An electrical failure in the dehumidifier’s circuitry can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: Kelon has received 7 reports of dehumidifier electrical failures that resulted in fires, smoke damage and minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
Kelon today announced a voluntary recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
This recall involves the following 35 pint and 25 pint Whirlpool branded dehumidifier models sold exclusively through Canadian Tire Corporation retail stores:
AD25USV, AD25GUSW, AD35USV, AD35GUSW
Sold At: Canadian Tire retail stores from August 2007 through February 2011

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dehumidifiers, unplug the unit, inform all users of the dehumidifier about the risk of fire and contact Kelon to verify if their dehumidifier is included in the recall. If the dehumidifier is included in the recall, Kelon will coordinate a repair with the consumer. For speed of repair, consumers should not return the recalled dehumidifiers to the retailer where purchased, rather they should follow the guidance below.
